Why Play Matta?
Play Matta™ is a more environmentally friendly alternative to poured rubber that offers higher standards of quality.
Departing from all existing playground surfacing solutions, Matta™ Products pioneered a new manufacturing process in 1992 at its plant in Otaki.
With strong roots in recycling, they perfected the technique of turning waste rubber and PVC into a two-layered playground surfacing system consisting of impact-absorbing rubber shock pads overlaid by durable and visually attractive PVC modular tiles.
Poured rubber soft fall often breaks down into small particles towards the end of its life. These particles can then enter our waterways, be consumed by wildlife, and contaminate the environment. Not so for Play Matta™!
It’s also far more durable under severe weather conditions, and a remarkably long-lasting product that requires very little maintenance. The longevity of Play Matta™ allows us to offer a six year manufacturer guarantee to our customers.

Play Matta Re-Cover
Play Matta™ Re-Cover is a unique, cost-effective playground resurfacing solution that quickly transforms cracked, crumbling, shrinking and worn-out surfaces.
Safety compliance is a major concern with surfaces as they wear, shrink, and disintegrate. Expensive patching and repairs are usually only a temporary fix, and do not restore critical fall height performance.
By re-covering your tired poured-in-place (PiP) surfacing with Play Matta™ Re-Cover, you’re guaranteed long lasting quality and performance for years to come.

Play Matta Rebound
The Play Matta™ Rebound is a robust indoor tile, suited for areas where play safety, hygiene and ease of cleaning is important – such as gyms, indoor playgrounds, and indoor public spaces.
The Smooth top finish is both hygienic and easy to clean. It also provides good traction under foot, and excellent indoor sound control.

Play Matta™ Safety offers the benefits of Matta™ with the unbeatable feel of grass.
Play Matta™ Safety surfacing promotes grass growth and retention while ensuring compliant impact protection – combining the safety and durability of synthetic surfacing with the feel of grass underfoot.
Closed and open surface options are available. Play Matta™ Safety is perfect for environments such as childcare facilities, where hygiene is a priority and children’s hands may be in direct contact with the floor.
Play Matta™ Safety surfacing is self-draining and ideal for any grassed environment where heavy use causes degradation, or where surface water and mud are problems.
The surface provides fall height attenuation, extra traction, and grass protection for areas such as walking tracks, slopes, flying foxes or public access trails.
Healthy soil, a good initial seed sowing process, light, and water will ensure good grass growth up and through the Play Matta™ Safety tiles. These tiles can be regularly mowed thereafter – so long as you ensure the rotary blades do not connect with the product (this may cause damage).

While loose fill soft fall surfacing solutions can be satisfactory at installation, repetitive playground use can cause problematic scuffing of fall zones.
That’s where Play Matta™ Scuff Pads come in. They integrate seamlessly with surrounding loose fill surfacing to provide years of compliant, low maintenance performance in high use areas, such as under swings and slides on playgrounds.
Closed and open surface options available, perfect for environments such as childcare facilities, where hygiene is a priority and children’s hands may be in direct contact with the floor.
Sustainability
Matta™ is proud to have pioneered recycling in New Zealand.
Since 1992, they’ve turned over 60 million kilograms of trash otherwise destined for landfill – including tyres, cables, road cones and even gumboots – into highly durable, recyclable, and safe surfacing products.
Today, their recycled products are made from up to 90% recycled materials.
While Matta™ safety surface tiles are heavy-duty and hardwearing, they aim to have the lightest possible impact on the environment.
